  "Organic" Mind Mapping
Mind Mapping by hand ("organic") Mind Mapping is fast, immediate and costs nothing! When you
draw a map by hand there are
lots of other kinaesthetic activities going on too which create a complete memory pattern - the movement
of your hand, the
texture of the paper, the type of pen or pencil and your own artistry in creating the map all work to
make this a very personal and
meaningful activity. For this reason, organic Mind Maps are much better for memorising and retrieving
information later on,
because so many "access clues" are laid down.
When mapping by hand, the order and structure of the map are not so important. Incongruities are often
just as easy (often
easier) to remember than logic. Your map is a personal image, and you may not necessarily have to explain
it to someone else,
so adding features that are personally meaningful can be a great help in later recall.
